Sony A7ii Macro Photography

I recently purchased both the Sony A7ii and the Throttle ND Canon EF adapter. My first test was using the Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens to shoot some macro shots. So far I’m liking the results and I can’t wait to get out and test the built-in variable 10 stop ND Filter in the adapter.

This photograph I edited using the totally awesome Tonality Pro from Macphun. You should head over to their site and definitely give it a try!

Lightroom Presets For Split Toning

I’m adding a new store to my blog where I will be adding presets throughout the year! First I’ve added a Lightroom Split Toning pack which has 7 of my favorite presets. These can be used on landscapes, portraits, macro shots or anything you wish! Here’s an example I created using the included preset Yellow Flowers.

Spring Macro Photography

In the spring I tend to use my Canon 100mm macro lens to death trying to capture every little bloom and bud in sight.  Spring macro photography has to be one of my favorite things about photography! Every year the same plants come and go but the photographs you take each year are always unique. This could be because of the subjects color or size difference each year or maybe you catch one of your subjects in the best light possible. That’s why I like shooting the same flowers and trees year after year.

This is one of my latest edits that I processed using a plugin called Topaz Restyle you can find my review of it here.  I took this shot using a Canon 60D and the Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro Lens handheld in aperture priority mode set at f2.8 and an ISO of 200. This combination of body and lens is an excellent setup for anyone looking to get into macro photography!

Photo Share – Signs Of Spring

Sometimes the simple things are often overlooked when out taking photographs. Often there are amazing photographs waiting to be taken right under your nose. Like this simple bloom I found on a tree today it could have been easily missed. I used a Canon 60D with a 100mm f2.8 macro lens to capture this image during the early morning light.

Topaz Simplify Edits

I was contacted earlier this week to try out Topaz Labs Simplify, at first I wasn’t so sure about this one. The first few images I saw created with this plugin just didn’t appeal to me. But after thinking about it I decided what the heck and downloaded it to give it a go… I’ve been very pleased with all the products from Topaz Labs they help me create my art work time and time again.  Like this one below a photograph I took over the fall in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Simplify turned an ordinary photograph into something totally different and I’m no painter that’s for sure… It would take me a year to paint that lol.
